As a part of an agreement with Pfizer, Ranbaxy has launched the generic Canduet in United States Pharmacy market. Caduet is a fixed dose combination of atorvastatin amlodipine besylate (presently marketed by Pfizer under the brand Caduet, which also contains a crystalline form of atorvastatin). The product is indicated for patients suffering from both high blood pressure and high levels of cholesterol. Caduet generated total annual sales of $339 million in the United States, September 2011 data. Ranbaxy is making available the full range of the generic version of Caduet. The introduction of atorvastatin amlodipine besylate tablets is a significant and important addition to our portfolio of cardiovascular products in the United States, said Venkat Krishnan, senior vice president and regional director, Americas, Ranbaxy, in a company statement. The launch further complements our resolve to bring high quality, affordable generic medicines as early as possible to the U.S. healthcare system, benefitting a wider cross-section of people.

U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has approved Galderma Laboratories the first ever pump dispenser, Epiduo Gel 1% and 2.5% (Adapalene and Benzoyl Peroxide), for Acne treatment. This approval marks the first ever pump dispenser for Epiduo Gel, the only once-daily, topical acne treatment that combines two well established active ingredients adapalene, a retinoid, and benzoyl peroxide, a well-known antimicrobial with no evidence of promoting bacterial resistance, for patients 12 years of age and older. Epiduo Gel is the #1 branded topical acne product among dermatologists and pediatricians.(1) The Epiduo Gel pump will be available via prescription in the first quarter of 2012 in pharmacies nationwide.
